Our Story 

CHILDREN OF THE VILLAGE NETWORK, INC. WAS FOUNDED ON DECEMBER 7, 1998.  IT SERVES AS SUMTER COUNTY'S CHILDREN’S POLICY COUNCIL.  IT IS A COLLABORATION OF VOLUNTEERS AND PROFESSIONALS THAT UNITED TO CREATE A FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER FOR SUMTER COUNTY.  AS A 501 (c)(3) NON-PROFIT, TAX-EXEMPT ORGANIZATION, THE FOCUS OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO COMBAT POVERTY AND ILLITERACY, TO PROVIDE JUVENILE INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION PROGRAMS, TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF FAMILIES, CHILDREN AND ELDERLY IN THEIR FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER AND FOOD INSECURITY, AND TO PROVIDE SCHOLARSHIPS TO PUBLIC SCHOOL GRADUATES IN SUMTER COUNTY.

                             Ways We Serve

Feeding Our Community
Our Food Bank and Brown Bag Program distributes on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month to approximately 200 families total per month. We also provide monthly groceries to 49 senior citizens within Sumter County.

Mentoring to Youth

The
GEMS Mentoring Program is offered to girls ages 13 to 18.  The program provides guidance to teens who are dealing with life’s challenges.  Mentees will learn the importance of establishing goals, of persevering through the hurdles of reaching those goals and of experiencing the realization of reaching those goals.

Uplifting Scholars

COTV scholarships are awarded to college sophomores that graduated from Sumter County public school. Scholarships are awarded based on academic excellence, community service, financial need and medical conditions and
first-generation status.
